What is more quintessentially American than the Daytona 500 race? How about the recently crowned Miss America, who is not only an active duty officer in the US Air Force, but will also be leading the pack at the Daytona 500 to kick off the 2024 NASCAR season? Well, that certainly puts Europe in its place. Now that’s what I call the epitome of the Great American Race! Finally, NASCAR has made a wise decision. No matter how much you may despise them – and trust me, I know there are plenty who do – I believe this is a decision that we can all support. Welcome to Daytona, Madison Marsh!
That’s exactly what I’m talking about! Now we’re really making progress. I understand that the 2024 NASCAR season had a rough start in California last weekend (which isn’t surprising, considering it’s California), but this is a step in the right direction. We’re taking it one step at a time, I suppose.
For those who may have missed it, Madison Marsh was crowned the next Miss America on January 14th, making her the first active duty service member to hold the title. Isn’t this country something else, huh? At just 22 years old, she is not only a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, but she is also currently pursuing her master’s degree at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Public Policy. On top of all that, she is serving as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force. Oh, and did I mention she’s a black belt in taekwondo? What have you accomplished this year?
Anyway, now she will have the Daytona 500 added to her already impressive resume. Marsh will lead the pack around the track for the initial pace laps before heading to the pit-road and watching the guys rev it up to 200 MPH for the first time this season. Vroom Vroom!
