If you didn’t tune in to the major sporting event until after the action started on the field, don’t worry. All you missed was one of the worst pre-game shows in the history of television, filled with so much shameless advertising that even the Puppy Bowl seemed like a high-brow alternative. We witnessed a strange video package called “In Memoriam” that paid tribute to the teams that didn’t make it to the playoffs, as well as a retrospective on the love story of Travis and Taylor. However, kudos to CBS for managing to include very few women in their pregame coverage, which is a disappointing message considering women make up nearly half of the NFL’s audience. This sends a terrible message to all the young fans watching!
Now that I’ve expressed my thoughts, here’s what you missed if you didn’t catch the pre-game or first half:

Burleson’s first question to Mahomes during their interview was about the jokes regarding his physique, and for the first time, I actually felt sorry for the Kansas City quarterback. Sure, he’s incredibly wealthy and appears in commercials left and right, but haven’t we all experienced a friend taking an unflattering photo of us and sharing it on social media? Mahomes defended himself, admitting that he may not have the best body, but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. He even jokingly considered taking his shirt off at the end of the game to prove himself.
Fair enough, Mahomes & Auto. Let’s promote a culture where we don’t mock people’s bodies.

This may not be of much interest, but for those who had bets on it, here are the official results. By the way, former Minnesota Vikings kicker Chris Kluwe mentioned on Bluesky that he could teach almost anyone to kick a field goal. After the kick, Kluwe explained, “Gronk’s plant foot was too far forward, causing his hips to lag behind and pushing the kick to the right.” So there you have it.

If you’re one of those individuals who constantly argues against the claim that 47 percent of the NFL’s audience is female whenever it’s brought up, let me introduce you to this Veozah commercial that aired right before kick off. If anyone knows who is watching the game, it’s the companies that spend millions to have their ads seen by their target audience. In this case, the target audience is women aged 40-55 dealing with the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Boom.

Dora the Explorer is explaining the concept of holding to the kids, while Spongebob and Patrick provide color commentary. However, Patrick’s main contribution so far seems to be yelling “uh oh!” whenever a penalty flag is thrown.
The Nick broadcast also has better graphics:
Why aren’t we all watching the Nick broadcast?

Taylor Swift, who arrived at the game via private jet from Japan, was shown on the big screen during a time out and was met with boos as she chugged a beer. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Jake Moody and the 49ers were the first to score, with Moody achieving the longest field goal in Super Bowl history.

It was a remarkable play… that was immediately fumbled by Isiah Pacheco on the very next play.

He barely stepped onto the field, stumbled, and had to be carried off on a cart. The word from the commentators is that he injured his Achilles.

Brock Purdy passes to Jauan Jennings, who then passes to Christian McCaffrey.
Taylor and Blake are definitely feeling the pressure:

Meanwhile, Travis Kelce has been missing in action for most of the game, and he expressed his frustration to Andy Reid about how things are going.
