The Atlanta Falcons are entering a new era. After an extensive interview process, the team has chosen Raheem Morris as their next coach. However, they face other challenges as they head into the offseason. The quarterback situation has been less than satisfactory since Matt Ryan’s departure, and it appears that their future quarterback is not currently on the roster. Team owner Arthur Blank recently admitted that there is no concrete plan in place for the QB position at the moment. Blank stated, “There is not a defined plan, but it is being discussed and will be intensely discussed in the coming weeks.”
Blank also mentioned that the team will soon discuss their strategy regarding this matter. The Falcons had high hopes for Desmond Ridder, but doubts have emerged about his ability to perform at an NFL level. Presently, it seems evident that he may not be the right fit for the job. There have been rumors linking the Falcons to a potential trade for Justin Fields, a Georgia native. The Chicago Bears possess the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and may consider selecting QB Caleb Williams from USC. The Falcons could also pursue experienced veterans such as Russell Wilson, Ryan Tannehill, or Kirk Cousins, although they would likely only serve as temporary solutions until they find a long-term option.
Regardless of who is leading from the sidelines, the Falcons should not expect different outcomes if they continue to field the same players. It is clear that changes need to be made in order to achieve success.
