The NFL running back position has undergone significant changes in recent years, as teams no longer value it as much as they used to. However, this shift in perception has not prevented talented running backs from emerging from the college game and making a significant impact in the NFL. One such running back is rookie Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons, who generated a lot of excitement heading into the 2023 NFL season. Despite not immediately becoming a superstar in Atlanta, Robinson has a promising future with the Falcons. In a recent interview with Complex Sports, he was asked to name the top five running backs in the NFL today. Robinson’s choices were Christian McCaffrey, Breece Hall, Kyren Williams, Derrick Henry, and Jahmyr Gibbs. McCaffrey, a candidate for NFL MVP, leads the list, while Henry is rumored to be leaving the Tennessee Titans for better opportunities. Among the young backs, Gibbs, Hall, and Williams were chosen by Robinson. Gibbs, despite sharing the backfield with David Montgomery on the Detroit Lions, had an impressive rookie season and has the potential to be a rising star in the NFL. The same can be said for Hall of the New York Jets and Williams of the Los Angeles Rams.
