UFC Boss: Super Bowl Should Stay in Vegas Every Year, Says Dana White
In a recent conversation with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, UFC boss Dana White expressed his belief that the Super Bowl should remain in Las Vegas indefinitely. White stated, “This shouldn’t go anywhere else.” The NFL championship game is set to take place on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders, which can seat up to 65,000 spectators.
As a proud resident of Las Vegas, White shared his love for the city, stating, “If any of you follow me on Instagram, I love this city so much.” He even mentioned how he captures the city’s beauty on his way home, emphasizing his deep affection. White, who moved to Las Vegas from Boston in 1977, revealed that the success of the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels during that time showcased the city’s potential as a major sports hub.
White proposed the idea of having multiple Super Bowl events in Vegas, suggesting that the city should be included in the rotation of hosting the NFL’s championship game. He shared that he discussed this concept with Goodell, stating, “You know this is where the Super Bowl should be every year, right?” White firmly believes that no other city can rival Las Vegas, as it offers the best entertainment, shopping, hotels, and restaurants in the world.
With the recent addition of the NHL team Golden Knights in 2017, Las Vegas has experienced a surge in sports events. The city now hosts the Raiders, LIV Golf, Formula 1 races, and will soon welcome the MLB team A’s. Additionally, Las Vegas is home to White’s UFC, major boxing matches, and the WNBA team Aces. White highlighted the growing interest in the city, stating, “All the big sporting leagues are coming here now… They can’t get here fast enough.”
It remains unclear how Goodell responded to White’s proposition, but White expressed confidence in his stance. He firmly believes that Las Vegas is the greatest city on Earth and the ultimate sports town, even comparing it to his hometown of Boston. As Super Bowl LVIII approaches, airing on Paramount+ at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time, the debate over the future location of the championship game continues.
