Ferrari has introduced its new Formula 1 car for 2024, which the team claims is significantly different from its predecessor. As the final week of car launches before pre-season testing approaches, Ferrari has unveiled the SF-24. The design team’s objective was to provide Charles and Carlos with a car that is user-friendly and reacts predictably, building upon the positive experience the drivers had in the cockpit during the final races of the previous season. The aim is to enable them to maximize the potential of the power unit, combined with their undeniable skill behind the wheel.
The SF-24’s livery closely resembles that of the SF-23, with the main differences being the inclusion of black coloring and parallel yellow and white stripes along the sidepod and nosecone. Last year, the SF-23, driven by Carlos Sainz, was the only non-Red Bull car to secure a race victory in Singapore. However, overall, it was considered a disappointment compared to its predecessor, which initially challenged for the title but ultimately fell behind. Team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed that the 2024 car includes “95% new components,” reflecting the extensive changes made over the winter. This is the first car that Vasseur has been directly involved in developing since assuming his role in January of last year, when work on the SF-23 was already completed.
The SF-24 will also mark the final season for Carlos Sainz with Ferrari, as he will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton in 2025. On the other hand, Charles Leclerc will continue with the team after signing a new long-term contract over the winter. With Ferrari’s unveiling, only Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull remain to complete their car launches, which are scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday. The teams will then gather in Bahrain on February 21 for three days of testing before the season officially begins on February 29.
