After the 2022 NFL season, experienced kicker Robbie Gould made the decision to retire following a lengthy and successful tenure in the league. Throughout his career, Gould played for the Chicago Bears, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers, although he never managed to secure a championship title. Despite this, he appears satisfied with his accomplishments from 2005 to 2022.
With the 49ers now competing in the Super Bowl, Gould may feel a tinge of disappointment for stepping away from the game. He participated in two previous Super Bowls but was unable to secure a Vince Lombardi Trophy. During a recent interview on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, Gould openly acknowledged that he still possesses the ability to kick long field goals. While he didn’t claim to be capable of a 60-yarder, he confidently stated that he could achieve a 58-yard field goal.
Unlike many positions on a football team, kickers can often withstand the test of time if they consistently perform well. Gould exemplified this consistency throughout his career, which is why he was able to excel with all three teams he played for. Regarding his ability to kick long field goals, Gould’s longest successful attempt was a 58-yarder while he was playing for the Bears. Therefore, it is plausible that he could still achieve this feat even after retiring, or at least he believes in his capacity to do so.
Turning our attention to the 49ers, Brock Purdy and his teammates are currently favored to emerge victorious against the Kansas City Chiefs in the upcoming game on Sunday in Las Vegas.
