Kansas City Police have reported that gunshots were heard at Union Station, which is where the Chiefs Super Bowl parade was taking place. The official Twitter account of the Kansas City Police Department posted at 3:02 p.m. ET, informing the public about the incident and urging them to leave the area. In order to ensure everyone’s safety, the police kept people inside Union Station while they worked to clear the area and determine the number of individuals who were shot. Fortunately, all individuals have been released since then. The police later provided an update, stating that the shots were fired near the garage on the west side of Union Station and that multiple people were injured. They also mentioned that two armed individuals were taken into custody for further investigation. The police urged anyone in the vicinity to evacuate the area as quickly and safely as possible to allow for the treatment of the shooting victims. Additionally, they advised people to avoid the Union Station parking garage area in order to allow first responders to pass through. NFL Network correspondent James Palmer reported that the media was directed to take cover under the stage and were escorted away from the station. Jacob Meikel, the sports director of News-Press, also noted the presence of military personnel in response to the shooting at Union Hall. This is an ongoing situation, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
