The owner of the Indianapolis Colts has taken to social media on Tuesday, marking his return after a recent hospitalization. The well-being of Jim Irsay appears to be improving, as he shared his first message since being admitted last month. It remains uncertain whether he has been discharged from medical care.
In his post, he expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support he has received during his recovery. The Colts had previously announced on January 9th that Irsay was undergoing treatment for a severe respiratory illness, but they have since remained tight-lipped about his health status.
Back in December, the 64-year-old was discovered unconscious on a bathroom floor, exhibiting a bluish skin tone. The police report indicated that he was unresponsive and had a cold touch. To counteract a potential opioid overdose, officers administered a dose of Narcan. A video obtained by TMZ depicts the police rushing to save Jim Irsay while playing Taylor Swift in the background.
Irsay has long battled addiction, primarily to painkillers. In an interview with HBO Sports in November, he revealed that he had been to rehab on numerous occasions, at least 15 times. He also recounted a near-death experience from several years ago when he went into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated.
Following the incident in December, Irsay had not been heard from or seen in public. However, sources have confirmed to ESPN that the recent social media activity was indeed initiated by the Colts’ owner himself, rather than a representative.
Since 1997, Jim Irsay has held the positions of owner, chairman, and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts organization has refrained from providing updates on Irsay’s condition beyond their statement issued a month ago.
