When Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool in the summer, he won’t wait a full season to continue his career—especially off the pitch. The German manager announced last month that the 2023–24 season will be his last at Anfield, explaining that he wants to take a break from the game due to mental exhaustion. Instead, the 56-year-old will focus on a significant family project that will require him to get involved hands-on.
Klopp is currently constructing two new homes, as reported by The Express. One is located in Wiesbaden, his hometown, which is near Mainz and where he began his managerial journey. Clearly, he is making plans for when he has more leisure time. In a previous disclosure, Klopp mentioned that his favorite vacation spot is the Balearic Island. Therefore, he is also building a property in Mallorca.
Sources state that the German residence is being constructed so that Klopp and his spouse, Ulla, who recently became grandparents, can spend quality time with their family. However, what has truly surprised him is the overseas project. “The darn thing isn’t even finished yet, and I’m already paying the bills,” he joked.
The luxurious estate was purchased by Klopp for an astonishing £3.4 million in June 2022 from Swiss businessman and artist Rolf Knie. However, due to his commitments in Merseyside, Ulla has taken the lead in organizing the events thus far.
Klopp has reportedly informed friends and family that he wants to actively participate and help expedite the work, as the project is falling behind schedule. The building plans include a state-of-the-art garden and an irrigation system, both worth millions of pounds.
Since taking charge in October 2015, Klopp has spent over eight years at Liverpool, during which he has led his team to victory in every major domestic and European competition.
