Lando Norris has been plying his trade with McLaren since 2019. The Formula 1 off-season witnessed the seven-time World Champion announce his switch to Ferrari starting from 2025. This transfer is considered one of the biggest in the history of the sport.
In response to the announcement, the McLaren driver recently expressed his thoughts about Lewis Hamilton’s move and his own future with McLaren. The fourth-ranked driver emphasized his desire to remain with the Papaya team following their recent resurgence under their leadership. He also acknowledged Hamilton’s move as ‘impressive,’ hinting at the possibility of his own future move.
Lando Norris has been a part of the McLaren team since 2019.
While I wouldn’t outright reject the idea, I still think it’s an impressive move. However, I must clarify that I don’t necessarily want to follow the exact same path. I’m not saying I want to go to Ferrari right now; I’m merely acknowledging that there are certain things that are admirable to do.
This could be Norris keeping his options open for when his contract with McLaren expires. Additionally, driving for Ferrari is a dream for many young drivers. Only time will reveal whether the driver decides to join the Red outfit once his contract with McLaren concludes in a few years.
Lando Norris and McLaren have achieved considerable success together. The British driver has been supported by McLaren since his junior days, and he has always been seen as their prized asset.
During the same interview, Norris shared his thoughts on his future with the team.
But it would be a remarkable story if I were to stay with McLaren throughout my career. I genuinely love the team, the people I work with, and I am content. However, there is also a competitive side of me that yearns for victory. It’s about determining which aspect takes priority at different times and deciding when the right moment is to make a switch.
Norris added that he loves McLaren, but there may come a point in his career where he would consider leaving if he doesn’t have the right opportunity to compete for wins and championships. However, for now, it seems that the driver is fully committed to delivering exceptional results for the team led by their management. Currently, the team holds the third position in the 2024 Constructors Championship.
