Today, the highly regarded manufacturer of high-performance cars fulfilled a long-standing desire by delivering its first vehicle to a Croatian individual at Manhattan Motorcars, the local dealer of Rimac Automobili. The choice of a New York-themed ceremony was made because the client has been residing there for the past 25 years.
The recipient of the vehicle is Dr. Branko Škovrlj, a neurosurgeon who came to the United States in 1999 as a Rotary exchange student in Council Grove, Kansas. After receiving a basketball scholarship, he completed his undergraduate studies at Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his graduation in 2005, Dr. Škovrlj’s career in neuroscience flourished, making him a well-known specialist in the field.
In addition to his successful medical career, Dr. Škovrlj has a penchant for high-performance cars. The Nevera, a Croatian masterpiece, is a vehicle that excels in every aspect, from its top speed to its power to its price. With a starting price of $2.2 million, the good doctor certainly has the means to indulge in his passion. The experience of purchasing this land missile from a fellow Croatian has been worth every penny.
According to Rimac Automobili, the doctor stumbled upon the Rimac Nevera by chance while watching a video on YouTube. Being of the same Balkan heritage and having a similar journey in life, Dr. Škovrlj expressed his interest in acquiring one of the limited production run of 150 units.
When one invests a significant amount of money in an exclusive two-seater car that produces less noise than a wristwatch, the experience is truly extraordinary. The Croatian doctor was invited to meet the team responsible for building the Nevera, tour the facility, and customize his preferences. Interestingly, the extensive wiring of 26 kilometers (16 miles) in each Rimac Nevera prompted Dr. Škovrlj to draw a comparison to the neurons in the human brain.
As Mate Rimac’s first Croatian customer, Dr. Škovrlj opted for a Predator Black ‘Fantasy’ exterior with Red Blaze leather interior, complemented by glossy red brake calipers behind Infinitus wheels. However, the true highlights of the Nevera, not only in Dr. Škovrlj’s vehicle but in all Neveras, lie in the advanced technology that powers the four electric motors.
The Nevera boasts an impressive 1,914 PS and 2360 Nm (1,887 hp and 1,741 lb-ft) of power. In the spring, it set an astonishing 23 speed, acceleration, and braking records in a single day. Notable achievements include a 0-60 mph time of 1.74 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 8.25 seconds, and a 0-250 mph/400 kph-0 time of 29.93 seconds. These remarkable feats would make even a fighter jet envious.
