Kobe Bryant spent his entire 20-year career in the NBA playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his time with the team, he aided them in securing five NBA Championships. Since Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash in 2020, the organization has made every effort to pay tribute to the late NBA icon. As part of this ongoing effort, the franchise recently revealed a statue of Kobe Bryant outside of Crypto.com Arena. While the majority of fans were focused on the Lakers’ gesture for Bryant, Nike chose to honor the five-time NBA champion by unveiling a new billboard, as reported by Complex Sneakers on Twitter. The billboard features the words, “The statue is down there. The bar is up here,” emphasizing the significance of Bryant’s legacy. Nike’s billboard for Kobe’s statue in LA is a fitting tribute to the basketball legend. The shoe company managed to create a memorable billboard with just a few lines. Although Bryant initially had a partnership with Adidas, he made the switch to Nike in 2003 and remained with the company for the remainder of his playing career. Given Bryant’s immense popularity among basketball enthusiasts, it comes as no surprise that he had his own line of signature shoes with Nike. The Lakers will continue to honor their legendary figure by unveiling two more statues of Kobe Bryant in the future. © 2023
