The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade, which initially began as a joyous occasion, quickly turned into a nightmare last Wednesday when gunfire erupted. In total, 22 individuals, including 11 children, were wounded and one person was killed. In the aftermath of this tragedy, the Chiefs’ star quarterback and his spouse took the time to visit the children’s hospital and meet with the victims.
According to a reporter from Fox 4 KC, Patrick Mahomes, the All-Pro quarterback for the Chiefs, made an appearance at the children’s hospital in Kansas City. During his visit, he had a conversation with two sisters who had been shot in the legs during the incident. These young girls were 10 and 8 years old.
The Reyes family later expressed their gratitude towards Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, acknowledging their overwhelming care, love, and support. In a statement to People, they also shared that their daughters are recovering swiftly, although they will need to wear casts for several months.

As of Saturday, all 12 injured victims, including the two sisters, have been discharged from the hospital. However, their recovery process, both physically and mentally, will be long and arduous.
Aside from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, the Chiefs’ tight end also showed support for the family of the two young girls by donating $100,000 to their GoFundMe page. Additionally, Kelce’s girlfriend made a significant contribution of $100,000 to the family of the individual who lost their life in the shooting. This individual, Lisa, was a cousin of the mother of the two injured sisters, whom Patrick and Brittany visited on Friday.
In response to the tragic shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and numerous injuries, three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have established an emergency fund. This fund aims to raise money to aid the victims, support first responders, and provide violence prevention and mental health services during these challenging times.

Law enforcement officials have apprehended three suspects, two of whom are minors, and charged them with gun-related offenses in connection to the shooting incident during the Super Bowl parade. The investigation has revealed that the shooting was a result of a personal dispute that escalated, rather than a coordinated attack.
