Porsche has denied any lack of support or undermining of its Formula E driver Antonio Felix da Costa, following a surprise evaluation test with Abt Cupra’s Nico Mueller. Da Costa had a difficult start to the season with three non-scores, but has since improved with a sixth and fourth place finish. However, he has struggled in qualifying and is currently behind his teammate Pascal Wehrlein in the championship. Porsche’s director of factory motorsport for Formula E, Florian Modlinger, stated that they are working to improve da Costa’s performance and that he has the full support of the team. Modlinger also mentioned that testing other drivers during the season is a normal process to evaluate potential future drivers. Despite the arrival of Modlinger at Porsche, it is believed that da Costa had already agreed to sign for the team before his arrival. Modlinger emphasized that his goal is to have the best drivers, team, and car for success in Formula E.
