WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez and challenger Jamaine Ortiz weighed 139 1/2 pounds on Wednesday at their weigh-in for Thursday night’s main event on ESPN at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis weighed in at 134 3/4 lbs, and Jose Pedraza came in at 134 1/2 lbs for their ten-round co-feature bout on the card.
Complete weights:
Teofimo Lopez – 139 1/2 vs. Jamaine Ortiz – 139 1/2
Keyshawn Davis 134 3/4 vs. Jose Pedraza 134 1/2
George Acosta 131.3 vs. Rene Tellez Giron 132
Javier Martinez 161.6 vs. Raul Salomon 164.4
Abdullah Mason 135.3 vs. Benjamin Gurment 136.8
Charlie Sheehy 135.7 vs. Abdel Sauceda 135.4
Alan Garcia 136.6 vs. Tomas Ornelas 134.6
Antonio Zepeda 299.7 vs. Lemir Isom-Riley 257
Art Barrera Jr. 141 vs. Michael Portales 140
Teofimo has a lot to prove in this fight because many boxing fans anticipate him to deliver another subpar performance following his victory over Josh Taylor last June.
It has become a pattern for the 25-year-old Teofimo to struggle after a significant win, and he is expected to underperform once again after dominating the former undisputed 140-lb champion Taylor.
Teofimo and his father made a big fuss about the win over Taylor, even though the boxing world sees the Scottish fighter as past his prime.
Keyshawn Davis Sets Sights on Greater Challenges
“I have put in a lot more effort during this training camp to prepare myself for a fight of this magnitude,” said Keyshawn Davis to the media regarding his upcoming bout with Jose Pedraza on Thursday night.
“I am not worried or nervous at all. I feel fantastic. Mentally, I am completely focused. I believe my last fight against Nahir Albright in November proved that I can be a contender in this division, but after this fight, it will be undeniable.
“All the up-and-coming fighters who have been calling me out, I am no longer interested in entertaining those challenges. I am now setting my sights on bigger and more formidable opponents. After I defeat Pedraza, I would love to face Emanuel Navarrete,” Keyshawn added.
If Keyshawn emerges victorious against “The Sniper” Pedraza on Thursday, he will need to adjust his aspirations and concentrate on a more realistic target for his next fight. Navarrete has no incentive to fight Keyshawn as there is nothing for him to gain from such a matchup.
A better option for Keyshawn would be to consider Frank Martin or Raymond Muratalla as potential opponents for his next bout.
