Porsche is preparing to reveal the upgraded 2025 Taycan electric vehicle (EV), which it claims will be showcased in a matter of days. Porsche has already provided some sneak peeks of the 2025 Taycan and is now offering a glimpse into the changes beneath the surface.
One of the main criticisms of the current Taycan is its limited driving range, with the base version only offering a range of 208 miles, while the Taycan GTS boasts the longest range at 246 miles. Porsche has announced that the new Taycan will feature an increased driving range.
According to Porsche, prototypes of the new Taycan were recently tested between Los Angeles and San Diego, achieving a range of up to 587 kilometers (WLTP cycle), which is roughly equivalent to 365 miles. The official EPA rating will be lower, but it still represents a significant improvement over the current Taycan. During the range test, Porsche maintained a maximum speed of 75 mph on the highway. Utilizing the Electrify America Charger in Torrance, the Taycan demonstrated charging power of over 300 kW and managed to charge from 10 to 80 percent state of charge in less than 20 minutes.
“This is an outstanding outcome. The range test in Southern California showcased the impressive efficiency of the revamped Taycan. We remain committed to our ‘fast travel’ strategy for electric mobility, which emphasizes short charging stops and high real-world ranges thanks to efficient drivetrains,” commented Kevin Giek, Vice President for the Taycan model line.
