Tragedy Strikes at Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade
In a shocking turn of events, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade took a devastating turn on February 14. The parade, attended by an estimated 1 million fans, was abruptly cut short due to a mass shooting near Union Square. Kansas City Police Chief Stacy Graves confirmed during a press conference that one person has tragically lost their life, and up to 22 others have been wounded. Three individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a devoted wife, mother of two, and passionate Chiefs fan, has been identified as one of the victims. It is yet to be determined if she is the same victim mentioned by the police or a separate casualty. Lisa was married to her loving husband, Mike Galvan, and the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary in November 2023. In a heartfelt message, Mike expressed his love for Lisa and his hope for many more cherished memories together.
The Kansas City Star spoke to a close friend of Lisa, Lisa Lopez, who described her as a wonderful and beautiful person. Lisa Lopez also revealed that Lisa was a well-known local DJ who had performed at numerous weddings. Her vibrant and lively personality had touched the lives of many in the community.
Manny Abarca, a Jackson County legislator who had known Lisa and her family for over a decade, paid tribute to her on X, a popular social media platform. He reminisced about seeing her infectious smile while she worked as a DJ and performed at the grand Fiesta in Kansas City. Determined to honor her memory, he pledged to use his legislative power to bring about positive change in the state and city.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a graduate of Bishop Miege High School, resided in Shawnee, Kansas, approximately an hour away from the parade’s location. She had a successful career as a disc jockey for the KKFI radio show, where she co-hosted the program “Taste of Tejano” alongside Tommy Adrade. Lisa’s Facebook page showcases her love for her children, husband, and her work. She frequently posted pictures supporting the Chiefs and promoted various businesses, including a friend’s venture selling Chiefs-themed cookies and custom shirts.
The Super Bowl parade, intended as a joyous celebration, turned into a day of heartbreak and sorrow. The community mourns the loss of Lisa Lopez-Galvan and stands together in solidarity, determined to bring about positive change and prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.
