On Tuesday, February 6th, the Chicago Bulls, currently seeded ninth in the Eastern Conference, defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, the third seed in the Western Conference, in an overtime showdown. At halftime, the Timberwolves held a commanding lead of 69-47. However, the Bulls staged an impressive 23-point comeback, ultimately tying the game at 115 by the end of the fourth quarter.
Together with another key player from the Bulls, White played a pivotal role in securing the victory, with both players scoring 33 points each. White’s contribution was particularly noteworthy, as he scored 21 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter. Despite Anthony Edwards’ impressive 38 points and Karl-Anthony Towns’ 33 points for the Timberwolves, their efforts fell short of securing a win. Towns managed to tie the game with a 3-point shot, but DeRozan missed a late jumper as the regulation timer expired.
In overtime, the Chicago Bulls outscored the Timberwolves 14-8, ultimately clinching the game. Following the thrilling comeback, DeRozan crashed White’s post-game interview to praise his teammate’s exceptional performance, exclaiming, “COBY WHITE IS A BAD MAN!” The Bulls fans in attendance also showed their appreciation by cheering for White.
During the game, the Chicago Bulls Center demonstrated fantastic defensive skills, recording an impressive 16 rebounds along with 4 blocks. Nicola Vucevic and Alex Caruso also contributed with 4 blocks each. Collectively, the Bulls tallied 16 blocks compared to the Timberwolves’ 5.
While there have been trade talks surrounding the Bulls, White appears to be off-limits according to Yahoo Sports. Zach LaVine, a former All-Star Slam Dunk contest winner, is also involved in the trade discussions but is currently sidelined due to season-ending surgery. DeMar DeRozan, who is in the final year of his contract, has not been a subject of trade discussions.
Since being drafted last season, White has struggled to meet expectations. However, this year has seen a significant change for the Bulls guard. He is currently averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists with a field goal percentage of 46.5%. The Bulls now have confidence in White’s ability to perform under pressure, as demonstrated in Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Although Alex Caruso is rumored to be a potential trade candidate, the Bulls are reportedly demanding a high price for the guard. Andre Drummond appears to be the only player of interest for the Bulls in potential trade negotiations.
