Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing a lawsuit from celebrity jeweler Shuki International. The lawsuit, filed in April 2023, alleges that Brown did not pay for jewelry worth $1.1 million. Shuki claims that he provided Brown with two diamond fingers, valued at $500,000 each, along with a white gold chain and a ring. According to the lawsuit, Brown agreed to make the payment by December 1, 2022, but has yet to do so. Interestingly, Brown released a song titled “Shuki Diamonds” as a tribute to the disputed jewelry. Despite the legal action, Brown has been spotted wearing one of Shuki’s diamond fingers on multiple occasions, including a recent appearance in Los Angeles on Rodeo Drive.
In a recent development, a judge ruled in favor of Shuki, issuing a default judgment against Antonio Brown. The judgment states that Brown is legally obligated to pay Shuki $1,095,000. However, Shuki claims that he has been unable to reach Brown to discuss the court’s decision. Shuki previously stated that he would have dropped the lawsuit if Brown simply returned the jewelry. He emphasized the importance of rotating the jewelry and expressed his desire for Brown to pay for it if he intends to keep it.
Antonio Brown, who earned over $80 million during his NFL career, now finds himself entangled in yet another legal and financial issue. This is just one of several challenges Brown has faced since his sudden retirement from the NFL. In October 2023, he was arrested for allegedly failing to pay child support to one of his children’s mothers. Additionally, he was ousted as the owner of the Albany Empire in the National Arena League in June due to his failure to meet expense payments for the team and his initial refusal to compensate players and coaches, only to later reverse the payments.
