The Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious in the coin toss at the beginning of the Super Bowl, but it may have been a decision they regretted. Right from the start, the 49ers, led primarily by running back Christian McCaffrey, expertly advanced the ball down the field, causing concern for Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
However, with 12:24 remaining in the first quarter, McCaffrey found himself in possession of the ball once again. This time, the game took a turn when linebacker Leo Chenal made a crucial tackle on McCaffrey, resulting in a fumble at the Kansas City 29-yard line. It was then that edge-rusher George Karlaftis swooped in and recovered the fumble.
The Chiefs successfully forced a fumble, resulting in a turnover and gaining possession of the ball.
