If you’re a sports bettor looking to turn a small investment into a huge payday, it’s difficult to resist the appeal of a high-risk parlay. Those bets usually lead to disappointment, but Dez Bryant had a significant reason to celebrate after placing some money on a series of college basketball games.
Dez Bryant had a successful career in the NFL, earning over $50 million in contract money alone during his time as a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. After nine seasons in the league, he decided to retire.
Not only does he have knowledge about football, but it seems he’s also quite knowledgeable when it comes to college basketball, as evidenced by the substantial amount of money he was able to win over the weekend.
On Saturday night, Bryant took to the internet to boast about his victory after placing a $767.68 bet on the outcomes of 13 college basketball games.
He had the opportunity to cash out for nearly $80,000, but instead chose to trust that Nevada would pull off a slight upset against UNLV, ultimately winning $416,970.35 after the Wolf Pack came from behind to secure a 69-66 victory.
Bryant later shared a video displaying his entire betting slip (which included other small upsets involving Seattle and Wyoming), although it’s possible he cashed out too early considering the clip revealed he “only” won $317,081.71.
He mentioned that he could have made over $1 million if it weren’t for another 15-leg parlay that was ruined by Washington, who were heavily favored (-300) in their matchup against Cal but ended up losing 82-80.
It must be nice.
